Courage

Many of us are not naturally courageous or bold.  We are easily intimidated by strong or wicked people. We are easily embarrassed – and when we are embarrassed we don’t get over it easily. 

So does this disqualify us from the job?  Does it give us an excuse for not trying?

Jesus loves to use the weak and lowly to do great things.

He is greatly honored when we try.  He will use these great challenges of faith to change lives – not only those who we witness to, but ours also. 

In the process we learn to rely more and more on the help of the Holy Spirit and become more and more bold.

It is so thrilling to look back at what happened when we tried to witness and realize how wonderfully God helped us. 

The results may not seem positive but we planted a seed.  And that seed may germinate in the days or months or even years to come.

The Devil will bring doubts and fears but God has provided us with powerful promises of His support. It would be good to memorize some of these verses:

But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth. (Act 1:8)

Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the LORD thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest. (Jos 1:9)

Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves. (Mat 10:16)

For whosoever shall be ashamed of me and of my words, of him shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he shall come in his own glory, and in his Father’s, and of the holy angels. (Luk 9:26)
